The Greater Tampa Bay Area Council, Scouting America, announces it has received a $25,000 charitable grant from the Suncoast Credit Union Foundation in support of local Scouting programs. The funds will be used to support Scouting Events throughout the Tampa Bay area, helping provide safe, engaging, and educational experiences for youth during 2026. This funding directly offsets program costs and helps ensure more Scouts can participate in activities that build leadership, character, and life skills.

 

Scouting is only able to survive and thrive in Tampa Bay with the generous support of community-minded donors and organizations, like the Suncoast Credit Union Foundation. We can’t thank them enough for continuing to support local Scouting in our area,said Jeremy Twachtman, Field Director with the Greater Tampa Bay Area Council, Scouting America.

Suncoast Credit Union, Florida’s largest credit union, founded the Suncoast Credit Union Foundation to promote the education, health, and emotional well-being of children in the community. Each time a Suncoast member uses their debit or credit card, the credit union donates four cents to the Foundation to fund local initiatives. Since its inception in 1990, the Foundation has raised and donated more than $55 million.

“Scouting provides vital learning and instills a sense of self-worth and life skills,” says Jeff Kunberger, Executive Director of Suncoast Foundations. “Ensuring this opportunity for more youth to participate provides memories and a sense of belonging which they deserve,” he added.
