You do not need to know anything about Scouting before getting started.
Does my child need any Scouting experience?
No. Scouting is built for new families, and local leaders will help your child learn as they go.
How much does Scouting cost?
Annual registration is $118, plus local unit fees. Uniforms, activities, trips or other optional items may have additional costs. Local leaders can explain the full cost before you decide to join.
Can we visit before joining?
Absolutely. Families are welcome to attend a local meeting or Scouting Night, meet the leaders and see whether the group feels like a good fit before joining.
Is Scouting open to girls and boys?
Yes. Scouting programs are available for girls and boys from kindergarten through age 20, with program options based on age and grade.
Can my child do Scouting and still play sports or do other activities?
Yes. Many Scouts also participate in sports, clubs, music and other activities. Meeting schedules vary by local group, so families can look for a group that works with their schedule.
What if my child isn't really an outdoors kid?
That's okay. Scouting includes much more than camping. Scouts can explore STEM, games, service projects, hands-on skills, leadership and plenty of other interests.
