Wilderness and Remote First Aid (WRFA)

This American Red Cross Wilderness and Remote First Aid course is based on the curriculum developed by the Boy Scouts of America. It is being offered by Greater Tampa Bay Area Council in coordination with CPR Training Center Tampa, LLC, an American Red Cross Licensed Training Provider.

Pack Committee Member Position-Specific Training Classroom (C60)

Every pack has a pack committee, which consists of at least three members (chair, secretary, and treasurer). By handling administrative and support tasks, the pack committee allows the Cubmaster, Den leaders, and their assistants to focus on working directly with the Cub Scouts.

NOVA Counselor/ Super NOVA Mentor Training (D83&D82)

Nova Counselors are an important part of the STEM Nova program. They learn skills to help guide Scouts in earning the Nova awards, such as reviewing the requirements, as well as understanding the duties and responsibilities of this important position. STEM Nova is designed to train volunteers to serve as SuperNova Mentors or Nova Counselors. Participants will learn about the STEM Nova program, develop an understanding of the roles and be able to implement these positions.

Basic Adult Leader Outdoor Orientation (BALOO) (C32)

This one-and-a-half day course is designed as an introduction to the Cub Scout outdoor program for leaders interested in adding a camping component to their Pack activities. BALOO training consists of an online pre-requisite component in addition to an overnight hands on practical. BSA’s Cub Scout level camping policies will be taught along with the discovery of the necessary tools to help units carry our a successful camping experience.

Completion of this course is mandatory for a MINIMUM OF ONE adult on a Pack overnighter.

The Trainer's EDGE

The purpose of this course is to provide and help develop the platform skills of a trainer. It is meant to supplement the practice offered through Wood Badge/NYLT staff development, with a focus on the participant, while raising the level of skill a trainer brings to the staff experience.

Fundamentals of Unit Finance

A look at unit finance practices including discussion of volunteer roles, charter organizations, budgeting, fundraising, treasurer reports, and monetary controls.

Cubmaster and Assistant Cubmaster Position-Specific Training (C40)

This course is intended to provide Cubmasters and assistant Cubmasters with the basic information they need to conduct successful pack meetings.

Chartered Organization Representative Training (D72)

This course is designed to familiarize the Chartered Organization Representative (COR) with the Scouting program. The presentation will help to orient the new COR’s and serve as a review for those with Scouting experience.

Cub Scout Den Leader Position-Specific Training Classroom (C42)

This course is intended to provide Tiger, Wolf, Bear, and Webelos den leaders with the information and tools they need to conduct successful den meetings. Den leaders who complete the Tiger, Wolf, Bear, and Webelos training, along with Youth Protection training, are considered trained for their position. This course may be taken in person or online.

District Committee Training Workshop (D61)

The District Committee Training Workshop meets the basic training need of members of the district committee. The workshop also results in a well-coordinated and dedicated group of Scouters committed to achieving the mission of the council and its districts. The workshop also helps initiate a working relationship between council and district personnel.

In GTBAC, the workshop is held annually in February.

Fundamentals of Training (D70)

This is the first part of the three-part train-the-trainer continuum (T3, or T-Cubed) in the Boy Scouts of America. The course introduces teaching techniques and skills to new Scout trainers but is also designed to help all Scouters, regardless of their experience, present effective training. Intended for both youth and adult trainers, the course will help those who might have trained for other organizations learn the BSA’s training techniques, and it will help freshen up the skills of current BSA trainers.

Wood Badge (A90)

Wood Badge is an advanced, national leadership course open only to Scouting volunteers and professionals. Scouters from Cub Scouting, Boy Scouting, Varsity Scouting, Venturing, Sea Scouts, and Explorers, and district and council Scouters all are welcome and belong here.

Youth Protection Training (Y01)

Youth Protection training is designed to help you keep our youth safe from abuse. You will learn the Boy Scouts of America’s Youth Protection Guidelines, signs of abuse, and how to report suspected abuse. After each section of material, you will answer questions about that section’s topic. Completion is noted automatically in the BSA training records database if the module is experienced online.
