The Greater Tampa Bay Area Council, Boys Scouts of America hosts the annual Whitney M. Young, Jr. event, which recognizes outstanding service by individuals or organizations in the development of Scouting for culturally and economically diverse youth. Proceeds from the luncheon benefit over 1,500 at-risk youth in the West Central Florida area. Funds raised are used for scholarships for boys to attend Cub Scout day camp and Boy Scout summer camp. These gifts also provide uniforms, Scout handbooks, leader manuals and advancement awards, to list just a few of the benefits from Whitney M. Young, Jr. support. Scouting continues to flourish in our neediest communities due to in large part to support from community leaders, local businesses and volunteers.
