Organized day camping is defined as an experience of group living in an outdoor environment. It is a multi-level experience under the supervision of trained leadership, which usually takes place during the daytime, from 9 or 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 or 4 p.m., but occasionally occurs during the twilight hours of 5 to 8:30 or 9 p.m. The program of activities provides fun and adventure in the outdoors at a site that provides seclusion and natural resources. Emphasis is placed on new experiences difficult to obtain in the usual indoor den atmosphere. The Greater Tampa Bay Area Council has been hosting Day Camps through the council for many years and seeks each to to maintain quality programming for the scouts and parents who attend.

Day Camp is an exciting adventure that every kid will enjoy. We also know that it can get costly, especially with more than one kid. Here are some fundraising ideas for your Pack, your family or for you individually that will help you get to Day Camp in 2019!

  • Sell Trails End popcorn online (available year-round) – talk to your unit’s popcorn kernel for details
  • Sell another item like meat-sticks or holiday cards
  • Participate in a local craft fair
  • Collect recylables
  • Plan a special event (parents night out, special dinner, pancake breakfast, etc)
  • Cake auction at Blue and Gold banquet
  • Garage Sale

**Make sure to complete and turn in a Unit Money-Earning Application to the council office prior to starting a fundraiser.  Some more ideas can be found via these links: https://scoutingmagazine.org/1999/09/scouters-speak-good-ideas-for-pack-money-earning-projects/ http://www.scoutorama.com/fundraising/
