Important Council Announcements From Scout Executive, Jim Rees

January 4, 2020

To:  Scouting Families of the Greater Tampa Bay Area Council

From:  Jim Rees, Scout Executive/CEO

Dear Friends,

The Greater Tampa Bay Area Council completed our 2019 membership campaign last night.  We were able to get everything that was turned in prior to December 31, 2019, posted.  Our Council achieved a 7.9% increase in membership representing a growth of 1238 youth members.  Our 2019 year-end membership is 16,929.  It appears that we lead all Councils that serve more than 10,000 youth in percentage membership growth and we lead the nation in the increase of actual youth members.  We also won the challenge with the Central Florida Council but they are to be congratulated on 4.2% growth,  which is significant.

I expect that most of us are involved or support Scouting because we understand the value Scouting can bring to youth, their families and the world. We know that each person that is involved in Scouting will have their character, citizenship, personal fitness, leadership abilities and relationship with God influenced in a positive way. We change the world with each youth member we recruit and we changed the world in a big way in 2019.

I am incredibly grateful to the volunteers and staff of our Council for all they did in 2019.  I am also grateful to all donors that help us in our mission.

Thank you all for your support and leadership. I am looking forward to all that is possible in 2020.

Jim Rees
